The Airplane Game

The Airplane Game is an energy-packed game that your kids will love. It's great because it can work with just about any vocabulary words.

THE AIRPLANE GAME

Target English: any which uses flash cards
Things You Need: flash cards, a piece of paper for each child, crayons or markers
Age: 4 or older
English Level: low-high

Game Outline:
1. As kids come into the classroom, give each of them a piece of paper and tell them to make a paper airplane. If they don't know how, then walk them through step-by-step. Then allow them 5 minutes to use the crayons or markers to decorate their airplanes.
2. Divide the class into two teams and have them stand on opposite sides of the room.
3. Call up one student from each team. Show them a vocabulary card. The student who names it first, gets to use it in the target English sentence. This team gets a point for proper English use.
4. The students then go back to their teams. The student who named the card first, gets to try to throw their airplane past the other team. If the other team cannot block it, then the team gets a second point.
5. Repeat until all students get a turn.

Variations

  • You can let both teams have a turn to throw their airplanes and earn a point, rather than only the team that got the vocabulary word first.

Hope you and your kids have fun with this game.

Love,
Shannon Sensei
