Cup of Love

The cup of love is a great Valentine's Day craft for the kids. Taping the hearts to the pipe cleaners may be a bit difficult for very young students, so that may be something that you want to prepare ahead of time. Older children can probably do it themselves. I didn't decorate the cup too much in my sample, but that's definitely something that you can do to make it even cuter!

Materials Needed:

  • paper cup
  • red paint
  • heart shaped punch-outs
  • pipe cleaners
  • anything else you want for decoration (e.g. feathers, glitter, etc.)

Preparation
If students are very young, you may need to tape the hearts onto the pipe cleaners for them. This should take 30 minutes for a class of 12.

In Class

  • Paint the cup red and let it dry overnight. If desired, add some glitter at this stage.
  • The next day, decorate the cup using glue and anything else that you might want.
  • Use tape to attach more small hearts to the ends of pipe cleaners.
  • Turn the cup upside down and poke the end of the pipe cleaner into the bottom, so that the hearts stick up like flowers. Use as many hearts as you want. This may be difficult for young kids. You may want to poke the holes for them and have them put the pipe cleaners through the holes.
