Egg Carton Flowers
Egg carton flowers are so simple that they can be made by just about any age student. They work well along with a spring-time theme, or even as a Mother's Day present!
Materials Needed:
- egg cartons
- paint--a few different colors
- green pipe cleaners
- paint brushes
- other materials for displaying (See the display variations for suggestions.)
Preparation
Cut out the egg cartons so that they each have just one "hump". Cut enough so that each student can have a few flowers.
This should take 10-20 minutes for a class of 12, depending on how many flowers you want each student to have.
In Class
- Pass out the single-hump egg cartons to the students. Explain that they are going to be flowers. It's helpful if you have a sample ready so that students can see how it's supposed to look.
- Give them a paint brush and let them paint the flowers whatever color they want, inside and out. If they finish early, they can make a few more. Let dry.
- After paint has dried, stick the pipe cleaner in the bottom, so that it looks like a flower. Young children may need help with this.
Display Variations
- Put many flowers together and tie them with a pretty ribbon to make a bunch.
- Put the flowers in a cup to make a vase of flowers.
- Put the flowers in a shoebox with dirt to make a flower box.
