February 2007
Hello!
February is a short month and this'll be a short newsletter. :-)
Valentine's Day is the big event in February. It also happens to be my birthday, so it holds a special place in my heart. What are you going to teach the kids about this day?
I didn't think that there was a lot of vocabulary words associated with Valentine's Day (especially when compared to Christmas or Halloween), but there's some great Valentine's vocabulary cards over at MES-English. They're probably most appropriate for older kids.
With my 2 year olds, I'm teaching them to say "I love you." and also focusing on the verbs "hug" and "kiss". This couldn't be more adorable and I highly recommend you do the same. You may want to be prepared for some heart-break though...when I was prompting my kids to say "I love you", one of my favorite little girls (OK, so they're all my favorites.) paused for quite some time and then said, "I like Megumi." Ouch.
Older kids (in the 6-12 year old range) tend to think it's pretty funny when you tease them about having a boyfriend or girlfriend. Ask them who they're going to give chocolate to...
I've got two Valentine's Day crafts up on the site:
Unfortunately, this month I don't have any advice to give as I didn't receive any questions. Boohoo. Send me some questions! I have lots of advice, but I don't know what people are looking for.
That's all for now! I hope that everyone is healthy and having fun!

I'll be adding a few more as soon as I get pictures of them.
