Finger Print Bugs

Finger print bugs are quite cute and look great hanging in the classroom at the beginning of spring.

Materials Needed:

  • White paper
  • Stamp ink
  • Thin black marker

Preparation
None needed beforehand. If your students are very young, you may need to spend a bit of time after putting the finishing touches on the bugs.

In Class

  • Pass out a piece of paper to each student.
  • Have students use the stamp ink to make finger prints all over the paper. Show them the different ways that they can use their fingers to make different types of bugs. This works best if you have a sample to show the kids. Let dry, either overnight, or for a few hours (e.g. You can start this craft in the morning, and finish in the afternoon.)
  • When ink has dried, use the thin black marker to create bugs out of the fingerprints. Draw antennae, feet, and eyes.
