March 2007

Hi everyone! Welcome to the March newsletter. I hope the weather is getting warmer where you are. Here in Japan we've had some weather that's been almost spring like. I was getting ready to pack up the winter coat and break out the sweaters. Good thing I didn't, because we're back to the cold. Grrrrr.

I have a bit of a confession to make. My husband and I are getting ready to leave Japan and move to America. I'm assuming that most of you have moved to another country before, so you know how difficult it is to move across an ocean. I'm busy trying to get all my belongings down to one suitcase. Thank god for those vacuum bags that reduce the size of things (a must-have for your international moves). We're leaving Japan on March 31, doing a little bit of traveling (including a wedding ceremony, a visit with my mother, and a honeymoon), and will finally settle in towards the end of April.

The good news is that once I leave Japan, I'll have a lot more time to work on the website. This is *great* news for you as I have a long list of ideas that I want to work on. I'll also be able to work on my ultimate dream which is writing storybooks for young ESL learners.

The bad news is that I haven't had that much time recently to work on the site. I have, however, been able to write up answers to a few questions that people have written in with. I *love* answering questions, so if you have any, please send them in.

Here are this month's answered questions:

Do I need a teaching degree to teach ESL?

How can I help my child learn ESL at home?

How can I find a teaching job in Japan?

Thanks again for being on my mailing list. If you have any suggestions of things that you would like to see, let me know!

Love,
Shannon Sensei
