Pumpkin Craft

This pumpkin craft is very easy to make and is great as an introductory Halloween craft. It takes two days to make.

Materials Needed:
  • paper plate
  • orange paint
  • paintbrush
  • black construction paper cut out for eyes and mouths

Preparation
Cut out the construction paper in the shape of eyes and mouths.
This took about 10 minutes for my class of 12.

In Class

  • Have kids paint the paper plate orange. Let it dry over night.
  • The next day, show them step-by-step how to place the eyes and mouth on the pumpkin.

Variations

  • You can give the kids many eyes and mouths to choose from and see what they do. Some may use the eyes for other parts of the face--nose, ears...even horns!

This is great to do towards the beginning of teaching about Halloween. When you hang them up in the classroom, the kids will always be excited to point them out whenever you show a "pumpkin" flash card.
